There’s something truly special about the little West Gippsland town of Garfield.
This Christmas, that special spirit was on full display as our community came together to host a free Community Christmas Day Lunch for locals who may otherwise have spent the day alone.
It was a day filled with warmth and kindness — a beautiful shared Christmas meal, games and laughter, heartfelt conversations, and that simple but powerful feeling of belonging to a community that truly cares. What could have been a lonely day for some became one full of dignity, joy, and connection.
A huge and heartfelt thank you goes to the wonderful, community-minded and endlessly energetic Meg Platte, who coordinated the day with such care, generosity, and fun. Your passion and commitment helped make the day unforgettable.
