A Welcoming Community Hub
Everyone is Welcome
About Us
The Garfield Community Garden is a shared space where locals can connect, learn, and enjoy the simple pleasure of growing food and plants together. It is a welcoming place for gardeners of all ages and skill levels — from curious beginners to passionate green thumbs.
The garden is open every day for the community to explore. For those who would like to get involved, we host weekly gardening sessions where you can dig in the soil, lend a hand, and enjoy a relaxed chat over a warm drink.
Join our community sessions:
- Saturdays: 10:00am – 12:00pm
Don’t forget your gloves!
Our garden features:
- Wicking beds, vegetable plots, herbs, and flowers
- Fruit trees and native gardens
- A diverse collection of bush food plants with helpful information guides
- On-site composting — bring your fruit and veggie scraps and help reduce waste!
We also host a variety of seasonal workshops every quarter, covering topics such as:
- Indigenous and native planting
- Bush food properties and traditional uses
- Olive preserving and seasonal produce tips
Whether you want to grow food, share your skills, learn something new, or simply meet new people, the Garfield Community Garden is a place to belong.
Our Vision
To cultivate a thriving community space where people come together to grow, learn, and connect through gardening. We envision a sustainable garden that is created, shared, and cared for by the community, in collaboration with local people, schools, businesses, and organisations.
The Garfield Community Garden will be:
• Inclusive and welcoming — accessible to all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.• Resourceful and diverse — showcasing a variety of plants, ideas, skills, and cultures.• Shared and community-led — encouraging participation, learning, and volunteering.
Together, we nurture not just plants, but friendships, wellbeing, and the future of our environment. Through learning, sharing knowledge, and working side by side, our garden will grow stronger — for the benefit of all.
